Charlotte

We continue our series of Friday profiles on the dedicated people of Reprise Media with Charlotte Lim, Media Director in our glamorous San Francisco office.

1.       Where Are You From? – Up and down the East Coast and now on the West.  I was born in Flushing, NY and then moved down to Atlanta, GA in 1989.  I attended high school in Atlanta, and then moved back up to New York state to attend college at Binghamton University.  I moved back to Atlanta in 1999 and worked at Initiative Media until 2003.  I transferred to Initiative Media NY and worked there until September 2003 when I decided to jump from traditional media to online media at Reprise.

2.       Favorite Website? – My top 5:  Searchviews.com (Just kidding), nytimes.com, wesmirch.com, techmeme.com, and facebook.com.

3.       Great Moments in Reprise History? – Hmmm…so many.  One would be on my 30th birthday when I walked into the “Red Room” at Reprise (we were still at Desbrosses St. in Tribeca at that time) and everyone greeted me with a picture of my face on a stick.  I was surprised, thankful and horrified at the same time.  It was extremely sweet in a creepy sort of way.

4.       Reprise Job Related Tip? –  Best advice given to me when I was stressed out trying to meet deadlines…”Charlotte, it’s only Search. You’re not curing cancer.”

5.       Which Search Engine Would You Be and Why? – Live Search because it gives users more control in the results they see than any other engine.  For example, users have the ability to control the amount of information for each search query result.  Users can see just the title, a short summary, or a long summary of their searches depending on how much info they want to view.   In addition, users can save searches and see updates to those searches automatically on Live.com.

6.       Favorite TV Shows? – I used to love sitcoms such as, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Will & Grace, but they all fell off.  Now I’m a big fan of “performance” reality TV such as, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, and So You Think You Can Dance.

7.       Favorite Movies? – I’m a big fan of Romantic comedies (gag – I know).  I haven’t seen any good ones lately but my favorite classics are Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, While You Were Sleeping, etc.

8.       Favorite Music/Musicians? – Tough Question.  I have a very eclectic taste in music.  I like everything from Alternative/New Wave, to Pop, Classical and Country.  I have a penchant for Christmas music.

9.       Favorite Social Media Tool, and Why? – It would have to be facebook.  It’s free, easy to use, has great control/privacy settings, and uncluttered with tons of ads.  In addition, Unlike LinkedIn which is a professional/business oriented social networking site, facebook is pretty much for everyone.  I recently re-connected with several friends and former co-workers through facebook, none of whom I could find on other social media sites.

10.   Favorite Book? – I’m an avid reader and there are so many good books that I’ve read in my lifetime.  I alternate between lighthearted chick lit and more serious fiction/non-fiction works.  The last really good book that I read was The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.

11.   How Much Weekend Time Spent on Social Media? – I used to hate being on the computer on weekends because I spend so much time on the computer at work.  However, since I started at Reprise and the birth of social media, I’d say I’m on social media sites on average of 4-6 hours each weekend.
