Yesterday Yahoo launched a suggestion site with Digg-style voting. From the Yodel blog,
“We’ve brewed up a swanky new community-based recipe for collecting feedback that’s making its way across a number of our sites…We call it a Suggestion Board – you can browse suggestions from other site visitors or post your own. Digg-style voting means we can quickly discover what’s most important to users. In addition to reading feedback from other users, you’ll find responses from Yahoo! employees about the issues.”
Because they openly copy Digg’s voting mechanism, the suggestion board has drawn mixed commentary. “Yahoo Shamelessly Rips Off Digg”, reads an angry Digg headline. “It’s an excellent way for Yahoo to gauge the popularity of suggestions, and is in no way competitive with Digg,” writes Techcrunch. In the meantime, Diggers have launched their own personal crusade against the Suggestion board, posting everything from “DIGG RULES!” to… well… less than appropriate topics (NOTE – Yahoo has since removed this post, but, trust me it was bad).

yes, its obviously a blatant rip-off… like Google video isn’t a rip off of YouTube and all the P2Ps that came out weren’t rip-offs of Napster… etc.
