MSN’s paid search product is young, and it’s been taking its lumps. But we can tell that adCenter’s trying, and they’ve got another round of improvements on tap for an update coming August 5th. Notably, it’ll make adCenter compatible with the FireFox 1.5 browser (archrival to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer), an admirable concession, and a wise one, as FireFox’s market share continues to grow – they trumpeted their 200 millionth download just yesterday.

What else can adCenter advertisers expect? Barry Schwartz has the lowdown, reposted from the SEW Forums:

“- Daily, weekly and monthly data will be updated every hour to help you view results and optimize campaigns in real-time.
- Select the time frame for which you want your campaign and order summaries to show, instead of viewing them in the life-to-date format.
- User-interface changes to the reporting tab will make usability simpler.
- API customers will now have access to more procedure calls. Detailed API communications will be sent to API customers.”

Barry also says that MSN’s search crawler has picked up a trio of bot friends to help out with the Image, Shopping and News crawling, and each has its own name now. Can plush toys and lunchboxes be far behind (please say they’ll be far behind)?
