While we were making plans for the long weekend, we came across a few interesting campaigns while searching on holiday-themed keywords. We thought we’d share a few before we got out of town.

Memoria-what now? If you’ve got three days to kill but don’t know where to get started, we noticed that USA Today has some ideas. We found their listing for “Holiday travel news and planning” amongst an assortment of travel sites, honor-the-troops homages and BIG HOLIDAY BLOWOUT SALES on MSN. Look for their “10 great road trip restaurants” feature.

Strong enough for a race car driver… The Indy 500 runs annually Memorial Day Weekend, and brings to mind so many unique sights and sounds: fast cars, screaming engines, ladies’ underarm protection…you read that right. Secret is running a campaign against “Indianapolis 500″ and “Indy 500″ – here it is on Google – featuring woman race phenom Danica Patrick. It plugs a Shockwave racing game called “Danica’s Secret 500 Challenge,” which pits you against a rogue’s gallery of computer-controlled male personas. Be warned; it takes a few clicks on the Secret site to load the game, and if you don’t have Shockwave installed, it’s kind of a pain – but you’ll get few other online opportunities to see the words “You did a great job beating Einstein!”

Speaking of cars, uh, where are the cars? If you’ve watched TV this week, you’ve seen an ad for a car dealership’s Memorial Day sale; chances are you’ve seen about 47 of them. But online? Nada on Memorial Day-related keywords (unless they’re planning to roll out those campaigns after everyone goes home today). Come on, guys! Secret is cashing in on the Indy 500, and you’re not even running something against “Memorial Day Sale?”

This just in from our non-Memorial Day Search Correspondent Everyone knows by now about the Dell and Google team-up that’ll have Google software pre-shipped on Dell PCs, along with a co-branded homepage. Well, the clever people at D-on-Net did some poking around and found a Google-Gateway co-branded page. Hmm…anything you want to tell us, HP?

Searchviews housekeeping note We’ll be out of the office Monday in honor of the holiday, so look for us to pick up our usual posting on Tuesday. Unless, you know, something major happens. Hope you all have a great holiday!
