You sales force might want to start paying attention to that little pizza joint down the street. The amount spent on local paid search advertising is expected to reach nearly $987 million this year, according to the “2006 Local Search Advertising” report released by researchers at Borrell Associates.


This figure is expected to double over the coming year. The “experimentation” phase is over for local advertisers and they’re now poised to snatch up sponsored link inventory on the major engines.
