In a land of counterfeit watches, back alley business deals and pirated DVDs, the Internet scam is still king.
A new report released by New York State Attorney General Eliott Spitzer reveals that the Internet is the #1 source of consumer complaints in the State of New York.
Most of the complaints have to do with non-delivery of goods purchased via online auctions such as eBay as well as spyware and spam.
Said Spitzer:
“The Internet has become the new Main Street of our society. It has brought great benefits, but also new opportunities for the unscrupulous.”

I agree w/Spitzer that the Internet is becoming the “new main street of society.” It seems that online shopping has made life easier, but brought on a lot of other problems at the same time. I just read a book called FutureShop by Dan Nissanoff that discusses how eBay is going to change the way we buy goods and he addresses the counterfeiting issue. It’s a really interesting read.
