In addition to rotten tempers and sore feet, the mass transit strike that’s wreaking havoc on New York City and its surrounding boroughs has also given rise to a number of interesting news stories.

Here are just a few:

“Working” from Home Online poker sites and sports books are reporting record numbers of players this week. It seems a lot of New Yorkers have been sitting at home playing Texas Hold ‘Em rather than checking their office email. Read the story in the Chicago Tribune.

Where’s Craig When You Need Him? He’s right there, as New Yorkers turn to Craigslist for transit strike shelter, carpools and more. The story is here in Wired News.

Picture, Picture This transit strike photoset on Flickr makes the MTA strike seem kind of artsy and cool. Well, not really. But we had you going for a minute there, didn’t we?

Subways & Silver Linings Seems a bunch of folks are using the strike as an excuse to solicit some carnal encounters. Gawker.com has the gory details.
