
The new Yahoo Mail beta features an RSS reader which the company is most likely hoping will bring the magic of RSS to a broader audience via web-based email.
Users can cherry pick from a list of big name feeds such as the Wall Street Journal and Salon.com or enter URLs manually. The revamped system will eventually include the ability to forward posts over email, on-screen notifiers of new content (Yahoo’s calling them “gleams”) and a configurable page from which to view your news.

Looks like Yahoo’s taking a different approach than Google with its decision to push RSS via email vs. a reader that stands alone.
What method will win out? For me it’ll be whichever one makes my mom a convert.
