Craigslist founder Craig Newmark recently did an interview with John McManus of GradeTheNews.org. If you’ve never heard of this site you should check it out, it’s a media research project developed by San Jose State University that tracks the quality of news outlets in the San Francisco Bay.
The Craigslist founder has some pretty cool things to say about his distrust of the mainstream press, what he thinks of his peers and the future of alternative news media.
Best quote:
“The country is in some trouble, because the media, which is supposed to provide a check and balance on government, has decided to stop doing that as a collective entity…Now it could be that they could be under a directive to not do so. We don’t know. I’ve spoken to a lot of journalists now who are very frustrated.”
