Rumor’s going round that Friendster may be up for sale.

It doesn’t come as a huge surprise, the company’s been in danger of losing its spot at the cool kids table for a while now. The problems are almost too many to count – a recent email spam fiasco, the butt-kicking success of MySpace and an employee fired for blogging are just the beginning.

Friendster is said to be in talks with Montgomery & Co, an investment banking firm out in California. The asking price has yet to be determined. This article on CNET says it could be between $50-100 million.

Of course, Friendster may be able to wrangle a few more dollars out of investors if they let it be known that the writing genius of a one Miss Pamela Anderson resides in the site’s blogs section. Check it out here.
