Google and Geico have agreed to settle in a court case that could (and still may) have big implications for online trademark infringement.
Forbes.com has the details.
Neither party is disclosing the terms of the deal, which came after a judge gave Google and Geico 30 days to quit their bickering or face a long and lengthy trial. Geico had been attempting to collect damages from Google after the search engine featured a rival’s ads that used Geico’s name in the ad text.
Google may be getting off lightly on this one but the decision is one that definitely leaves the door open for further litigation.
On a just-barely-related note, new research on what makes a gecko’s feet so sticky could lead to big advancements in aerospace.
