That story we posted about Google acquiring Meetroduction turns out to be have been just a rumor.

Randy Charles Morin of iBLOGthere4iM interviewed the company’s president, Wendell Davis, who had this to say:

“Well, as for the rumors, I hope to hell that they are true! We love Google, and I can certainly see why people might think that Meetro would fit in with their product line. We’ve talked with some people there – they were aware of us before the story broke – but the fact of the matter is that no acquisition is taking place.”

Sorry about that. In the future we’ll try to keep our rumors confined to celebs and Star Wars sequels…

One Response to “Google + Meetroduction = Only A Rumor”

  1. As everyone knows by now, the Meetro-Google rumor is false. However, Meetro itself is still quite an interesting story. My colleague Jon Turow and I interviewed Meetro CEO Paul Bragiel about app security, privacy and competition from existing IM and social networks.
