It’s a long way from Sunnyvale, CA to Los Angeles, but it’s an even tougher road for Yahoo’s recruitment team, who will have to scramble to a number of key posts left vacant by the firm’s decision to relocate from Silicon Valley to Southern California.
An article originally published in the Wall Street Journal has
several media division general managers, three of whom head Yahoo’s finance, sports, and movies & TV units opting to leave the Sunnyvale-based company. Three other division heads have decided not to relocate and will go on to fill other posts within the organization.
That’s the official company line, though those close to the source say there could be some dissatisfaction with the company’s decision to hire former Walt Disney exec LLoyd Braun to head up the search engine’s media group. In other words, his “management style” isn’t going over so well.
Yahoo’s expected to release its second quarter earnings today. Watch it unfold here or take a break from the tech stuff and see who else shares Lloyd Braun’s moniker (hint: it’s a character on the TV show ‘about nothing’).
