Oops, they did it again. Two very similar product roll-outs in the same week. This Google/Yahoo thing is getting pretty co-dependent, don’t you think?

Google has announced the addition of a RSS reader to the Google Personalized homepage. Users can now click on an “Add Content” link to add feeds of their choice to their homepage, effectively making it an aggregator of sorts. Very nice, but the usability needs a little work and most will want to stick with the several dozen apps of this sort that they already have. As one person put it, “Very soon, I’m going to need an aggregator for my aggregators.”

The same day, Yahoo made the announcement that it will be integrating RSS feeds & Flickr into its Yahoo 360 product. There’s also “blast balloons”, which allow you to add a custom spin on the new content you push out to family and friends.

On a related note, Microsoft has released a screensaver that incorporates RSS feeds, MSN Spaces content, personal photos, weather, and Hotmail. I’m not totally sure, but I think it also solves marital problems and makes a mean frozen drink. Hear it straight from a Spaces user himself here.
