We first told you about Chitika back in January, when they announced the launch of their new blog program, BlogContext, which uses automated technology to analyze content and serve up relevant contextual advertising for blogs.

This week the firm is expected to announced the “Death of the Banner Ad” at the WebMasterWorld Search Conference in New Orleans. Nick W of Threadwatch.org has the scoop, including a PowerPoint presentation containing all the details on the app that’s supposed to spell doom for the traditional banner ad.

It’s called eMiniMalls and it brings together product merchandising, a dynamic recommendation engine and comparative shopping information. Despite all the functionality, the ad units remain about the size of regular banners and include a search box as well as links to blogs covering the related product.

Sounds pretty cool, especially if the click-throughs are what they claim. Read the press release for more.
