Unable to pinpoint precise locations on the olde-timey diesel-powered MTA Subway Map and frustrated by the sometimes there, sometimes not there nature of the subway information on CitySearch, a coworker turned me on to a better way to get me to brunch on time.

It’s called HopStop.com, and it offers a great way to plan your public transportation around the city. Select subway, walking, bus, or any hybrid of the three and get destination-to-destination directions at the click of a mouse. Like MapQuest in its early days (and some would argue still today), HopStop’s still got a few kinks to work out. It got me lost the other day in the West Village, but luckily there were 8 million and 1 police officers around to help me find my way (such a high crime neighborhood and all, you know).
