We made a brief mention of it yesterday and today it’s official: Keyhole is now integrated with Google Local and Google Maps. Read the announcement on the Google Blog.
Most of the images are accurate, though some are older than others. The major maps functionality remains the same – just with satellite pictures in lieu of the standard map graphics. Users can drag around maps to view surrounding areas without waiting for the image to reload, which is pretty cool.
Also cool is our ability to predict the future. Well, not quite, but we did make mention of the Keyhole integration as one of our Search Predictions for 2005:
This year Google will refine its ability to cross reference information from all its different arms, mixing things like product discussions from Google Groups with Froogle results or mapping local search results to their new Keyhole product, etc.
