Lots of coverage today on the launch of the Google Local Business Center. It’s a free tool whereby businesses can add or update their business listings on Google Local. This comes on the heels of the launch of similar services by Yahoo!, Amazon and others.

A lot has happened in local search since Battelle mused on the subject a month back, and it’ll be interesting to see who emerges as the main players.
RustyBrick over at Search Engine Roundtable took the new feature for a test run. Read his report now. The snail mail response system and 2 week turnaround seems a little long, especially given that Amazon said they were averaging 7 days for their A9 Local Search when we spoke to them at SES.
