Ethical SEO methods that adhere to rules set by search engines. White Hat SEO is concerned with improving page ranking and increasing traffic by naturally increasing the keyword relevance of a website.
WHOIS
An Internet database providing information on the nameserver, registrar, and contact information for each domain name.
Widgets
(also known as Applications or Gadgets): Portable chunks of code that can be installed on any HTML-based web page and utilized by the average web page visitor. Example: www.mybloglog.com
Wikis
Collaborative websites that can be edited directly by anyone with a user login. Example: www.wikipedia.com
XHTML
A markup language that uses the syntax of XML while allowing the customization of an HTML page. Web pages built with XHTML can quickly and easily be customized by inserting XML feeds. For more information see: Wikipedia definition of XHTML
XML
Standing for Extensible Markup Language, XML is an easily customized programming language which breaks information down into easily catalogued and databased bits of information.
XML Feed
Shopping search engines and engines w/ Paid Inclusion typically accept XML feeds when updating their indexes. These feeds include standard information such as page text, meta tags, linking URLs and so on.
